Becoming yourself through empowered healing.
-
You feel like you have to be strong for everyone else?
-
You feel lost in your identity because your trauma or negative experiences feel too defining?
-
You see the world differently than those around you and you feel overwhelmed by loneliness?
-
You feel stuck in dysfunctional systems or unhealthy family systems?
Does this resonate with you?
Whether you feel disconnected from your life, controlled by past trauma, or overwhelmed by systemic dysfunction, I am here to meet you where you are. I help people heal from the trauma, dysfunction, and grief they experience by providing a safe space to find embodied strength, exploration of patterns of attachment, and deeper connection to their identity.
I know what it is like to experience great loss and to wrestle with systemic dysfunction and grief. Through empathic attunement, compassion, and a deep belief in your dignity and worth, I will seek to walk alongside you as you process hurt, grow in self-compassion, and find embodied healing.
I am an Associate Licensed Counselor in the state of Alabama (ALC05836) and am under the supervision of Articia Hunter, LPC-S (SC3504).

Therapeutic Services
Therapy for Trauma/PTSD

Our minds and bodies are adaptive and capable of navigating extremely difficult circumstances. Sometimes, the memories and the embodied memories stay with us longer and rewire our brains in ways that negatively impact our coping skills, our ability to show up fully in our daily lives. For some of you, your symptoms began after a deployment, after an extreme event or loss, or slowly through burnout and a toxic work environment. Trauma therapy works to give voice to the stories and memories that keep us stuck and living in fear of the next bad thing. We will work to practice embodied coping skills through memory processing, relaxation techniques, and self-compassion.
Therapy for Depression/Anxiety

Some of us can't remember a time when we didn't struggle with sadness or overwhelming loneliness and some of us are experiencing it for the first time. Together, we will work to comprehensively explore your story, your life factors, your mindset, and how you cope with the negative experiences in life. How do you internalize sad things and form your view of life and meaning? Through psychotherapy, you can explore and confront these internalized messages of self-doubt and shame in order to build self-confidence and a centered sense of identity.
Therapy for Sexual Abuse

Some of you experienced a fracture to your identity and body so deeply that you feel broken, lost, and disconnected from your identity, sense of self-worth, and dignity. What happened to you matters and yet it can be so difficult to talk about it. Through trauma-informed therapy we will work together to build trust and safety as you learn how to talk about your story and what happened to you. It is with great care and gentleness that we explore internalized shame and self-doubt in order to construct patterns of self-esteem building and dignifying the embodied self.
Therapy for Religious Trauma

For many, religion and spiritual practice is a place for community and connection. For others, it can be a place of deep betrayal, shame, and systemic abuse. Navigating the hurt and harm of systemic religious abuse can feel so lonely and isolating as you question what you believed, second-guess what you experienced, feel shame and betrayal in leaving, and wonder what deconstruction can look like. Therapy focused on healing from spiritual abuse is grounded in building self-compassion and trust, learning to listen to yourself, processing betrayal and hurt, learning to set boundaries, and exploring your reconstructed values and spiritual practices.
Relationship Therapy

Attachment-based therapy focuses on the client's earliest relationships and internalized ways of relating to self and others. The groundwork for this type of therapy is laid on a foundation of trust and rapport built in the therapeutic relationship. As an attachment-based therapist, it is vital for my clients to feel safe, heard, and seen. Misunderstandings are an inevitable part of humans communicating, and when this happens between me and a client, this is an opportunity to model healthy communication and repair. Often, people find the most healing in therapy just by being believed and attuned to in a safe and empowering environment. Sometimes, it's because they never learned how to feel safe in relationships and sometimes it's in relation to a controlling or unhealthy relationship.Together we will explore your patterns for attachment and connection in relationships.
Telehealth Therapy

Telehealth therapy is a great alternative for those who live further away from my office, for those who are home-bound, or for the ease of cutting down on drive/transition time. I use Simple Practice as my Electronic Health Record (EHR) and I use their telehealth platform for virtual sessions. Each client is given access to the portal and an email or text with the virtual session link will be sent to you before your session.
